Part of the Albertine Rift, this dramatic mountain range is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, rich biodiversity, and as the last remaining habitat of the endangered mountain gorillas. The Virunga range consists of eight major volcanoes, including the active Mount Nyiragongo and Mount Nyamuragira, and the dormant Mount Karisimbi, the highest peak at 4,507 meters. These towering peaks are surrounded by lush tropical rainforests, bamboo groves, and alpine meadows that offer sanctuary to a wide array of wildlife, including golden monkeys, elephants, and hundreds of bird species. Itinerary

In the early morning, you will be picked up by your safari guide/driver from your hotel in Kampala or Kigali and drive to Mgahinga gorilla national park in Southern region of Uganda. While coming from Kampala, the journey to the park is about 8 hours’ drive while from Kigali to Mgahinga Gorilla national park, the journey is about 4 hours’ drive. During the drive, you will see beautiful sceneries countryside and plantations. Later, you will check into your lodge of booking for dinner and overnight

Wake up for your early morning breakfast and head to the park office for the pre-hike briefing experience. After, you will be led by the park rangers to Mount Sabyinyo in Mgahinga national park. The hike will take about 6 to 8hours depending on one’s fitness. With three peaks, Mount Sabyinyo is somehow difficult to hike due to its sharp ridges, vegetation and the uneven terrain with craters. After the hike, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight
