Mount Mikeno is one of the extinct volcanic mountains of Virunga Mountains along with Mount Nyiragongo, Mount Nyamuragira, Mount Karisimbi, Mount Bisoke and Mount Sabyinyo. ActivitiesWake up for your early morning breakfast and move to Bukima Patrol post with all the hiking documents for the briefing before setting off for the hike. Since it’s a full day hike, you will move with your packed lunch and energy drinks which will help you quench your thirst and hunger on the way. After the briefing, will be led the ranger guides through different vegetation zones as you spot various species like birds, animals, plants, butterflies and others. While at the summit, you will have the panoramic views of almost the entire Virunga national park, waterfalls and also the coffee plantations. Later, you will descend back to the lodge/camp/hotel of your booking for dinner and overnight.
Wake up for your early morning breakfast and check out of the lodge for your departure. You will drive to Kigali for your departure flight or you can also opt for a city excursion where you will visit different places like Genocide memorial site, museums, Kaplaki craft village and others.
In the early morning, you will be picked up by your safari guide/driver from your hotel in Kampala or Kigali and drive to Mgahinga gorilla national park in Southern region of Uganda. While coming from Kampala, the journey to the park is about 8 hours’ drive while from Kigali to Mgahinga Gorilla national park, the journey is about 4 hours’ drive.
