We leave the state capital Nairobi (1,670 m), where over 3 million people live, and drive to the Maasai village of Muteleu. The village was built for tourists from pure natural materials. In this project to promote sustainable tourism, 10 so-called manyatta (Maasai houses) with made-up beds for 2 to 3 people and shower / toilet were built. The electricity is generated with the help of solar energy. The dishes are freshly prepared, mostly from our own cultivation. The stay in Muteleu, with a short hike to the sunset, is a special experience for everyone. The Maasai are without a doubt the most famous people in East Africa. The tall Maasai warriors, the Moran, with their red robes, long, ocher-colored hair and colorful jewelry are considered fearless and proud. Their huts, built from a mixture of cow dung and ashes, are circularly laid out around an open interior area. Here we learn more about the daily life and culture of this people. • Travel time: approx. 3 hours • Driving distance of: approx. 160 km • Muteleu Maasai Traditional Village (B, D)

After breakfast with the Maasai, we continue via Kimana to our tent camp at the foot of the Chuyulu Hills. The Chyulu Hills form the border between the land of the Akamba and the land of the Maasai. The vast mountain landscape is of volcanic origin and is characterized by peaks up to 2,100 m high as well as dry grass and acacias. In the afternoon we go on our first tour of discovery. Today and tomorrow we will spend the night in a camp with igloo tents. There is a safari toilet and a safari shower (water bucket with a watering can nozzle that is hung from a tree). • Walking time: approx. 2 hours • Driving time: approx. 2.5 hours • Driving distance of: approx. 120 km • Tent camp in the Chyulu Hills (B, D)

After the first bush breakfast we start an easy hike to the top of the range of hills. The Chyulu Range is sometimes referred to as the youngest mountain range on earth. It consists of numerous individual volcanoes, the craters of which are unmistakable, especially at the southeast end. The Sheitani volcano, which rises in Tsavo West National Park, is famous among volcanologists and erupted around 200 years ago. The entire northeast flank of the 80 km long and an average of 7 km wide mountain has been protected by a 471 square km national park since 1983. We can see the Yatta Plateau in the east, a unique volcanic phenomenon. From There it stretches around 240 km along the Athi River in a southeastern direction and is considered to be one of the longest lava flows on earth. The massive Kilimanjaro massif towers to the southwest. On the way we fortify ourselves with a picnic lunch. The length of the hike can be individually adapted to the children's "wanderlust". • 400 m • 400 m • Time: about 3 -5 hours. • Tent camp in the Chyulu Hills (B, D)

Today we head to Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s most iconic safari destinations. Located at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, Amboseli offers stunning views and unforgettable wildlife encounters. The image of elephants walking beneath snow-capped Kili is world-famous—and here, it’s reality. The 392 km² park lies near the Tanzania border and features unique landscapes, from vast savannahs to seasonal wetlands and a shimmering soda lake. Fed by underground springs from Kilimanjaro’s meltwater, Amboseli’s marshes attract herds of elephants, wildebeest, zebras, buffaloes, and gazelles year-round. Predators such as lions, hyenas, jackals, and wild dogs also roam the plains. Bird lovers can spot over 400 species, making Amboseli a paradise for ornithologists. We’ll enjoy a 4-hour game drive in Amboseli National Park, stopping for lunch at Kibo Safari Camp, located right at the park gate. Don’t forget your swimwear—there’s time for a refreshing dip in the camp’s pool! After our safari, we return to Kibo Slopes Cottages in Loitokitok to relax at the foot of Kilimanjaro. Drive time: Approx. 2 hours Distance: 160 km Overnight: Kibo Slopes Cottages (B, L, D) Activity: 4-hour Amboseli game drive

Today’s journey takes us into Tsavo West National Park, one of Kenya’s most diverse and dramatic protected areas. Covering 9,055 km², it’s part of Kenya’s largest conservation area—together with Tsavo East, the parks span nearly 21,000 km², roughly half the size of Switzerland. Unlike its eastern counterpart, Tsavo West features varied terrain: rugged hills, lava flows, craters, and densely vegetated mountains. Shortly after entering the park, we encounter striking black lava fields—remnants of recent volcanic activity—that stretch for about 50 km² at the base of the Chyulu Hills. We stop to explore this unique landscape before continuing deeper into the park. Our destination is the Severin Safari Camp, a secluded and scenic lodge nestled in the heart of Tsavo West. After settling in, we head out on our first game drive, scanning for elephants, zebras, giraffes, lions, and more. A highlight of the day is a visit to Mzima Springs, a series of crystal-clear pools fed by underground streams from the Chyulu Hills. From the underwater viewing chamber, we may spot hippos, crocodiles, and colorful fish—an unforgettable glimpse into aquatic life in the bush. Tsavo West offers not just wildlife, but a journey through ancient and recent geological wonders. Travel time: Approx. 3 hours Distance: 80 km Overnight: Severin Safari Camp (B, L, D) Activities: Lava field stop, game drive, Mzima Springs visit

What a wake up to this lovely camp! Let's see if there are any animals at the waterhole. Before breakfast we start our "Early Morning Game Drive". From the roof of our Toyota Land cruiser and from now on it is only a matter of: Keep your eyes open! ) also buffalo, giraffes, lions, antelopes, leopards and other animal species. Today our driver will suggest different stalking routes. In any case, on one of our trips we head for Poacher's Lookout - a lookout point that offers a great view over the park. Back at camp there is breakfast first - whether pancakes, fresh fruit or muesli, no wish remains unfulfilled. There are always onlookers in the open breakfast room: colorful birds, squirrels or the peacefully grazing warthog - it's never boring here. In the late afternoon we start our next game drive and the rest of the time is available to us to relax in the camp. • Severin Safari Camp (B, L, D)

In the early morning we go on one last early morning game drive. At lunchtime we stop at the Hunters Lodge. Then we leave the national park and drive back to Nairobi. • Driving time: approx. 4.5 hours • Driving distance of: approx. 280 km • Severin Safari Camp (B, D)

Today is once again dedicated to the big four-legged elephant. We learn a lot more information about the habits of these proud animals. We visit Daphne Sheldrick's elephant orphanage, where baby elephants who have lost their mothers to poachers find a new home. Here they are fed and looked after until they are released into the wild after about five to ten years. In 'Utamanduni' we take a lunch break, a center that offers us a good insight into the art of African handicrafts. Then it's time to say goodbye to the wild animals. We pack our things and drive to the airport in Nairobi for our departure to Zanzibar. Here our English speaking driver guide says goodbye to the group. After a short flight we land on the spice island of Zanzibar. Cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon have been grown here for centuries and gave the island its famous nickname. We are expected at the airport and drive about 60 km from the west coast to the east coast to our beautiful beach resort. • Driving time: approx. 1.5 hours • Driving distance of: approx. 60 km • Uroa Bay Beach Resort (B, D)

Our last holiday home is located directly on the kilometer-long, snow-white sandy beach, which is called Uroa Bay in this section. We enjoy comfort and hospitality here. The light breeze from the sea is pleasant. We can take part in numerous activities: tennis or golf, swimming and aqua aerobics in the pool or diving and bathing in the Indian Ocean - there is a lot on offer. There is also the option to visit Stone Town or take part in a spice tour. The hotel reception is happy to help. The east coast is heavily influenced by the tides. During the low tide, the beach offers good opportunities for long walks or jogging if you don't want to relax by the swimming pool. • Uroa Bay Beach Resort (B, D)

The day is available for your own activities. A joint group transfer to the airport usually takes place in the afternoon. • Driving time: approx. 1.5 hours • Driving distance of: approx. 60 km • (F) Back to the day view
